Meowl-O-Ween: How To Carve A Watermelon Cat-O-Lantern
The kitties in Meowl-o-Ween love to play with carved pumpkins! But, unlike regular jack-o-lanterns, these pumpkins are shaped like…CATS! For a fun summer activity (and a tasty snack) carve watermelons instead of pumpkins! Follow the instructions below to get a perfect cat-o-lantern:
Find a big, juicy watermelon with lots of space to draw on.
Use a marker to outline two triangles for eyes, an upside down triangle for a nose, and three long strips for whiskers.
With a grown-up’s help, cut a hole in the top of the watermelon and scoop out the inside with a big spoon (P.S. save the insides and the juice for a sweet treat later!).
Use a small knife to carve out the eyes, the nose, and the whiskers.
Use the cut out triangle pieces and some toothpicks to stick ears on the top of the watermelon. Those will be the kitty’s ears!
Place a small candle inside to see your kitty jack-o-lantern glow!
Itty Bitty Betty Blob: How to Make a Dandelion Flower Crown
In Itty Bitty Betty Blob, Betty’s new puff friends put a lot of work into making Betty look PERFECT for picture day and make her a beautiful flower crown! You can make your own flower crown with these easy steps:
Collect lots of dandelions! Make sure they have long stems.
Cross one dandelion over the other with the flower heads close together. This will kind of look like a flower cross-shape!
Loop the vertical stem under the horizontal stem.
Fold the stem back over the dandelion and line it up with the other stem to make them perpendicular.
Add another dandelion about an inch to the right and repeat the process until you have a line of dandelions long enough to wrap around your head.
When your flower crown is long enough, you can close it by wrapping the last dandelion stem around the first dandelion head.
Practice with your friends so you can all have your own crown like Betty!
Mermaids’ Song to the Sea: How to Make a Mermaid Costume
Join our mermaid friends in Mermaids’ Song to the Sea by creating your very own costume! You can even create your very own mermaid name using this guide! Follow the steps below to create your very own mermaid tail:
For this project you will need coffee filters, paint or markers, white painting paper, scissors, hot glue, and an apron that reaches all the way to your ankles.
Start by coloring your coffee filters with whatever mermaid colors you like. Get creative!
Cut a tail shape out of your painting paper and do the same. You can even add glitter for an extra shine!
Cut your coffee filters in half so that they’re half-circles and place them on your apron. To make them look like scales, try layering them over each other!
With a grown up’s help, use hot glue to keep the coffee filters in place. You can also glue your tail to the bottom of the apron so that it goes all the way down the floor.
Some aprons are full-body, so you can either trim your apron in half or fold it inside so that it only covers your human legs.
Tie the apron around your waist and pair it with a mermaid-ey top and some ocean accessories to complete your mermaid look!
